Richard Rigby had plans to turn Mistley into a spa town, so he hired the architect Robert Adam, to design and remodel the existing church. A picture of the original church previous to the re-modelling can be seen in the gallery.

Heath The 'St Mary the Virgin' Church was built and consecrated in 1735, and remodelled by Robert Adam in 1776. He added the two towers at both north and south ends of the rectangular church.

  The lodges built in 1782 for the hall still remain, standing to the East of the Towers.
 

The Mistley Towers today.

  The Towers are located on a bank overlooking the River Stour, amoungst a grave yard next to Mistley Quay.
